I discovered the JCE podcast a couple of months ago and continue to be inspired by the underlying personal story, of walking forward in Christ beyond failure. A decade ago my sins brought me great loss. Formative and foundational relationships crumbled, including my marriage. I was removed from my business of twenty years, by Christian brothers. Basically, anything and everything that held my identity together were removed. I couldn’t recreate what I had, and I had no clue on how to move forward. I came to Christ six years later. Life hasn’t gotten easier after (as I had hoped) but instead, it’s been getting progressively harder.
This past Sunday morning I introduced my wife Natale to JCE. We are older (late ’40s and fifty-something – lol) and recently married so we can relate to your situation. We are currently in Mexico for three weeks, as Natalie is getting alternative treatments for stage four metastasized breast cancer. We were in our room lying on the bed, sharing a pair of air pods listening to this episode. Natalie of course thought that Lisa has wonderful insights (no surprise) 🙂 We spent the next hour talking about our hopes and dreams for our marriage. So, thank you very much for helping us have a special moment of hope during our trip. God is working out something in our lives during this season. Perhaps, God is leading us to be open, vulnerable, and transparent while acknowledging that (at least for me) that I am the greatest sinner of all.
All I know is that I have been incredibly blessed by our relationship. Natalie and truly love and respect each other deeply — even with our flaws. I hope God has a miracle for her health.
We look forward to future episodes — and will keep your relationship in our prayers!

Jeff,
This was so encouraging. I read it to my wife and it blessed her as well. Thank you so much for such an uplifting message. Praying for healing for your new bride.
