One Response to Grinch-ism, and Assurance of Salvation

  1. Vernon Wooden says:

    R.C.:
I must confess that I’ve been a grinch or scrooge all my adult life on what I thought was principle. Not because of trauma in childhood, not because of deprivation as a missionary kid. It seemed as though God was confirming my “principled” stance against silly celebration when my father’s ministry in Japan came to an end when he came back to the U.S. over Thanksgiving weekend in 2002 with glioblastoma, from which he died on Christmas day that year. But your discussion helped me put my misinterpretation of God’s providence into proper perspective. Thank you, especially in a year filled with many difficulties. I believe this will help me minister properly to our PCA pastor’s family, since they just lost their wife & mother last Saturday. Christmas is, and should be, a time for truly rejoicing in God’s grace.
